Abstract:  Behavioral disturbances are observed in most patients suffering from diabetes. According to some evidence, pro-inflammatory cytokines have a key role both in diabetes and behavioral disorders, such as anxiety and depression. In this study, the effect of chronic administration of loganin, as a bioflavonoid, was investigated on pro-inflammatory cytokines and depression- and anxiety-like behaviors in streptozotocin-induced diabetes in male Wistar rats. Blood levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method. Depression- and anxiety-like behaviors were evaluated by forced swimming test (FST), elevated plus maze (EPM), and open field test (OFT), respectively. Body weight was also measured before the interventions and after the experiments in all groups. Our findings show that loganin-treated animals had significantly lower serum concentrations of IL-6 and TNF-α compared with the diabetic group. The present study was aimed to investigate effects of loganin on Aβ-induced inflammation and to explore the underlying mechanisms. BV-2 microglia cells were stimulated with 10 µM Aβfor 24 h to induce inflammatory damage. According to results of CCK-8 assay, the doses of loganin in present work were 10 and 30 µM. We found that treatment with loganin could inhibit Aβ-induced microglia activation. In this study, we revealed the sedative and hypnotic activity of loganin and investigated its mechanisms for the first time. Pentobarbital-induced sleep test and insomnia mice models [induced by caffeine and p-chlorophenylalanine (PCPA)] were used for the assessment of sedative and hypnotic effects of loganin. It was found that loganin (20-50 mg/kg) exerted sedative effect in normal mice. Results showed that oral administration of loganin significantly decreased body weight loss, disease activity index, colon shortening, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity and pathologic abnormalities in UC mice. A single bioactive compound was fractionated and isolated from(CO) extract to screen for anti-arthritic effects. A single component, loganin, was identified as a candidate. The CO extract and loganin inhibited the expression of factors associated with cartilage degradation, such as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP-3), and matrix metalloproteinase 13 (MMP-13), in interukin-1 beta (IL-1β)-induced chondrocyte inflammation. In addition, prostaglandin and collagenase levels were reduced following treatment of IL-1β-induced chondrocytes with loganin. After 36 h of cultivation, the accumulated CNCBL in the spinach leaves (wet weight) was as high as 0.48% (concentration), and the leaves still contained 0.94± 0.11 μg/g CNCBL after boiling, which could provide consumer daily requirement of CNCBL. Because CNCBL supplementation had adverse effects on gut microbiota, this study focused on the effect of the combination of spinach and CNCBL on gut microbiota as well. After the boiled leaves were passed through angastrointestinal tract simulation system, it was found that the spinach protected CNCBL against the low-pH gastric acid. We here report the case of a female patient who had had these oral signs for 2 years and whose laboratory tests revealed normocytic anemia with iron and vitamin B12 deficiency. Obesity associated parameters (body weight, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, body fat percentage and body fat mass) and safety assessment were analyzed.
