I will  start a daytime weekly Hatha yoga class at Shawbury Village hall on 23rd of feb 2012 (thursday from 11-12.30) 

If the venue proves suitable & successful I may set up another class there (I'll keep U posted)

This is an exciting new project that I am really pleased to be involved in from it's inception. Myself and four other local therapists have got together and created a one-stop-shop website showing Holistic Therapists operating in the TF postcode area. This means that you can not only see who your local therapists are but also find out what therapies are available and a bit more about them. As all therapists on this site will be vetted beforehand you can be assured of quality treatments, by a fully qualified therapist and have the security of knowing that they are fully insured to carry out treatments. As a lot of the local therapists are Sole Traders this will also provide them with an opportunity to share advertising costs and to be able to promote their businesses on this website.

Apart from the above, another main aim of this group is to promote holistic health care and to make therapies more accessible to you. We are a not-for-profit group and throughout the year we intend to put on a range of Holistic Health Events where we can provide taster sessions in a wide variety of holistic health treatments, provide workshops to raise awareness, and raise money for LOCAL charities. (Along with a lot more things that will evolve as we get going!)

This is new, it's exciting, and what's more - it's local. Our official launch will take place early next year and we hope that you will support us and tell your friends. I'll keep you up to date with progress and if you have any thoughts on this subject please feel free to email me.

Quest library: We still have a sizeable collection of books and some DVDs that can be borrowed for a small donation. They are at the HES office landing, behind the Pharmacy, in New Street, up the stairs. Open Weds-Fridays 10am - 5pm. Please make use of this!

For the past 6 years or so, Quest has been run mainly by Rosa, Joyce and Khonchog. For health reasons, Khonchog has decided to resign from her role as treasurer, having done a stirling job - coming each month,caring for our finances and being a lively participant in the discussions. We are profoundly grateful to Khonchog for all she has done for Quest, and hope that she will at least continue attending when she can.
Treasurer needed: This leaves a vacancy for any Quest “regular” who'd be willing to take over as treasurer. It only involves turning up about 7.15 to most talks, taking and then banking the money and paying the speaker. We will set up a new bank account.
Other helpers welcome! It would also be helpful to have a few more willing hands to help prepare the drinks and set up the room beforehand and/or wash cups afterwards.
This would involve arriving around 7pm.
Speakers and participants We are always open to suggestions for new speakers and events… please let us know if you meet anyone who might like to come and offer their wisdom!

SHROPSHIRE LETS SYSTEM - LET'S MAKE IT A SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took over last year as membership secretary for SevernLets from Val Oldaker who has now sadly died.
I want to really increase the membership this year and get people trading regularly as it has gone at bit quiet in the last few years. There are a number of complementary therapists in it offering therapies for Shrews instead of money as well as lots of other interesting things. I am so passionate about it because it means that everyone can afford to have these therapies through LETS.
I have posted this on the transition towns group and I wondered if you could put some or all of it on the newsletter.
I just wanted to remind everyone reading this, that we have a Local Exchange Trading Scheme here in Shrewsbury.
It is a scheme for bartering skills and goods between members using a local currency; in this group, the currency is called 'Shrews'. Unlike a one-to-one system, you can earn Shrews from one member and spend them with any other.
LETS schemes are non-profitmaking groups run for the members by the members. The system is managed by a 'Core Group'
What are the benefits?
LETS schemes offer an opportunity for people to exchange skills and goods without using money, and to meet socially. This helps members prosper - and you can use the cash saved for other things!
We would love more members, so please consider joining. It is only £5 to join (a one off cash amount) and we have some really interesting and useful things being offered at the moment. These include swedish body massage, bowen technique, reiki, sound healing, indian head massage, graphic design, book keeping, dog walking, babysitting and many more!
