Tribute to Tinkerbell

Tinkerbell on her rocking chairTinkerbell 14 April, 1995 to 1st March, 2010

I was with Tinkerbell the minute she was born. Tinkerbell was the last kitten to be born to Sweetpea and she was tiny. She had long hair and when she needed the toilet it sometimes stuck to her.  You could almost  hear Sweetpea saying 'oh no, why does it always have to stick to your coat'  Much to the relief of Sweetpea, Tinkerbell managed to keep her own coat clean and immaculate. When she was just about 8 weeks old,  I awoke one morning  to hear Tinkerbell making such a racket, I looked for signs of blood, or to see if she was injured but she was not.  She kept looking at me and meowing loudly, then I saw the reason for the pandemonium, she had caught a worm!!! This was her first official hunting trip and she was ever so proud of herself.  I congratulated her and cuddled her for ages and she was so happy.

Tinkerbell on the prowl Living in isolated locations with an abundance of wildlife, allowed her to develop excellent hunting skills and I would wake up to an array of creatures (mainly mice) she was the best hunter out of all my cats.  She had a strange thing with moles, she would catch them and put them in my bag.  She was an outdoor cat, she hated being indoors and would scream to get out in the morning, as I never let them out at night.  She had her own room and furniture and was not really a lap type of cat but she did like full body massage and being combed every morning whilst she would purr away content and happy.  She would sleep on the bed and when she wanted something would come up behind me and pull my hair, she became an expert at this and would wake me up out of the most deepest of sleeps for a cuddle, cat biscuit or to get out.  Andy, my husband, really spoiled her, he would bring her in new blankets regularly, the best of meat and tuna for her (we are vegetarians).  She loved sunbathing and would sunbathe for hours.

She developed a heart problem a few years ago on 8th October, 2007 and we thought we would have to put her to sleep then but we got her back and every day I gave her healing and massage. She would still go out every day and would run up the stairs like a kitten.   I asked people to send her healing and they did and she managed to stay with us until Monday, 1st March,2010.  I had to take her to the vets and sadly she took a heart attack and died on his table. I will never forget her, she was so beautiful, so fragile and yet so strong and we loved her deeply. She spared me the pain of having to put her to sleep.  She is now in our garden and will forever remain in our hearts.  I was with her the minute she was born and the minute she died, I was truly blessed.
